This is a Pony Express rider about to change horses at a station and continue his nights ride. The station man has his mount ready along with a cup of coffee. The mail is carried in the special Mochila saddle cover that is thrown over the specially designed lightweight, Sante Fe-style saddle shown on the grey horse. The station is the Muddy Creek Station in Wyoming.
The Pony Express only ran for 18 months, but the stories of adventure and bravery will last forever.
